IPCS students became prizewinners of the Russian Mas-wrestling Championship

Five athletes of the federal university became winners and prizewinners of the Russian Mas-wrestling Championship, held in Moscow since April 4 to 6. Total amount of participants was 133 athletes from 22 regions of Russia.

NEFU Institute of Physical Culture and Sports presented team of ten people. Student Aleksander Soloviev won in the 60 kg weight category, Ayaan Karbakov won second place in the 70 kg category. Master’s student Svetlana Artakhinova, Aleksandra Fedorova and student of the Institute of Physics and Technologies Tallaygul Kaldarbaeva became winners in their weight categories. By the end of the competition, they were awarded a trip to the World Mas-wrestling Championship.

Athletes trained on the base of the Department of National Sports led by Yana Zakharova, Mikhail Borokhin and Aleksandr Zakharov.

“Mas-wrestling is a spectator sport, it requires no special equipment, strong player is instantly found. That is why it is one of the favorite sports among athletes from other regions of Russia and will be certainly promoted further, Yana Zakharova said. - In order to prepare strong athletes, we need to pay attention to strength training and athletes’ stimulation”.

The championship team of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) ranked first, second and third place went to Moscow and St. Petersburg respectively.
