NEFU is among the top 200 universities in the BRICS countries

North-Eastern Federal University is among the top 200 universities in the BRICS countries. On June 18, Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) published the ranking of universities. BRICS countries: Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa - are among the countries with the fast-growing economies.

"The role of the BRICS countries in the world more and more remarkable, and according to the world leading experts, BRICS will take dominant positions in education as the international education market develops, - said Vasily Savvinov, the Vice-Rector for NEFU Strategic Development. - It is noteworthy that NEFU took the seventh position among universities in five countries for such indicator of the quality of education as the ratio of the number of students and teaching staff, the 84th position – for the proportion of international faculty and academic staff involved in research and educational activities at the university. The value of these positions becomes even clearer and more important, considering that the total number of higher education institutions of the five countries is more than six thousand".

Russia took the second place in the number of universities that ranked as the best. Among the Russian universities ranked the top universities with the fast-growing economies, North-Eastern Federal University ranked 52nd position. NEFU is starting to show quite good results in terms of scientific research: the university ranks 24th by number of citations of scientific publications nationwide, the 57th position on the number of scientific publications.

"If we are already comfortable with the fact that our university among the top 40 best universities in the country for the second year, so the high score of leading international experts is very valuable for the university, because it shows the correct positioning in the international educational space, the international recognition of the quality of scientific and educational activities. Nowadays, we can attract internationally recognized experts, invite leading scientists and, of course, the best students from around the world only through international recognition. Therefore it is very important that NEFU showed good results on the main aspects of its activities - both educational and scientific", said Vasily Savvinov.
