Swiss Professor Patrick Serio gave a lecture at NEFU

On April 21, Professor Patrick Serio, Head of the Slavic Languages Department of the Philological ​​Faculty, University of Lausanne, gave a lecture on "Language and Nation: two models (the French Jacobins and the German Romantics)" to NEFU teaching staff and students at North-Eastern Federal University.

Pro-rector for Pedagogical Education Mikhail Fedorov presented the guest. Then Mr. Serio started to lecture with presentation. Professor concluded that bilingualism and multilingualism are not only enrich the culture of the human psycho, but it is also a way to live together.

Patrick Serio also quoted philosopher and writer Ernest Renan: "Man is the slave neither of his race, nor his language, nor his religion, nor of the windings of his rivers and mountain ranges".

After the speech, Professor from Lausanne was asked a number of questions related to the subject of the lecture and concerning his country. The lecture was held within the scientific seminar "Language and discourse in modern theories", which will be held at the university until April 24. The second lecture in French will be held in the library of Academic Laboratory Building (ULK) on April 22.
