The results of the third worldwide ranking of the top universities in the BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa), published by the agency Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), were announced on July 8. North-Eastern Federal University replicated success of the last year and entered the top 200 universities in the BRICS countries, ranked 151st – 200th.

As before, Chinese universities lead in the third annual QS World University Rankings: BRICS 2015: the first three places were taken by Tsinghua University, Peking University and Fudan University correspondingly. Moscow State University took the 4th place, Saint Petersburg State University – the 15th place.

"This year overall ranking has extended twice: last year QS ranking ranked only 200 educational institutions, and this year - already 400. The total number of universities in Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa is around six thousand. Russia is represented by more than 90 participants, though the number of domestic universities in top 200 has remained unchanged - 53. From the federal universities the top 200 included Kazan, Ural, South, Far Eastern, North-Eastern, Baltic and Siberian Universities," NEFU Department for Strategic Development said.

"NEFU being ranked among the top 200 universities in the BRICS countries is a testament to the fact that the efforts of all the employees and executive staff of the university to modernize the scientific and educational process and improve efficiency in all areas produce results, and the university strengthens its international position, becomes more familiar in the world. Only through international recognition the university can now attract the best prospective students, leading scientists and experts", the department said.
