Joint projects of NEFU and Korean universities to be continued

On July 3, NEFU Rector Evgenia Mikhailova and the representatives of South Korea discussed cooperation of the federal university with the leading educational institutions of Korea in the field of economics, industry, and medicine.

"Until the 90s of the last century, Yakutia was famous for developing the mining industry, but no one was engaged in processing resources. The university had a goal to train specialists in chemical technology for development of economics. Today we have four implemented joint projects with the Korean universities, including a project on oil refining and production of motor oils, working up to -70 degrees by Celsius. Now our chemists’ task is to find a cheap technology of collecting methane from gasified coal", NEFU Rector Evgenia Mikhailova said.

The parties noted the high level of cooperation between educational institutions in the medical field. So, the idea of creating NEFU Clinic, practicing treatment of the population, has been adopted from the example of Korean universities. Professor Kang Duck Soo said that every Korean hospital attached to a specific university. According to Evgenia Mikhailova, North-Eastern Federal University is planning to establish a similar partnership with the National Center of Medicine.
