Professor Lars Kullerud suggested NEFU to head Endowment of the University of Arctic

On November 5, President of the University of the Arctic Lars Kullerud at a meeting with NEFU rector suggested the idea of ​​establishing an Endowment Fund on the basis of the Russian university. He believes that Ammosov University has experience in managing the Endowment Fund.

According to President of the University of the Arctic and NEFU Emeritus Professor Lars Kullerud, the next meeting of the University of the Arctic’s members to be held in Lapland (Finland), where the main topic will be the project funding strategy. "One of the primary tasks of the managing will be an increase of funding. We have founded the Endowment Fund in Finland, and plan to open the funds in Russia and the United States. I would like the Russian federal university to manage the funds of the international project. We are interested in NEFU because it already has experience in managing the Endowment Fund", the professor suggested.

Rector Evgenia Mikhailova noted that Ammosov University undertook a commitment to establish the Endowment Fund of the universities of the Northeast China and the universities of the Far East and Siberia. "Rectors of the University of the Arctic have to express their willingness to participate in the Endowment Fund, as well as determine the amount of contribution they are ready to make", NEFU Rector said.

In September 2016, St. Petersburg State University to host the biggest event of the University of the Arctic – the UArctic Congress. The President noted that before the event there will be two major forums, where the issues of the funding and research projects to be solved.
