On November 18, Surgery Express team of NEFU Institute of Medicine won the University surgery competition. The best participants will present the federal university on the Far East stage.

Future surgeons from the winning team showed the best results in six competitions:  stitching of intestinal and tendon sutures, stitching of microvascular sutures on a training model, desmurgy, endovideosurgery, theoretical competition.

"Participants were responsible for definite competition, so for each of us it was special. We were waiting for the competition, began to form the team in advance - it's like a holiday for us. I think that surgery is the best profession", said Miron Mikhaylov, the team captain, finalist of the Moscow Student Competition in surgery last year. He said that now the task of the future surgeons is to prepare for the regional competitions and try to reach the final of the Russian stage.

According to Deputy Director of NEFU Institute of Medicine Nikolay Gogolev, 30 people will be selected to prepare for the Far Eastern competition, 15 best surgeons of them will be selected. "There is no word "I" in the surgery – it’s a team work, in practice - the surgical team.  Every action is important in order to save a person's life: surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses and other specialists. Students should understand it now. NEFU competition was held just the fourth time. When they first went to the Far East stage and showed excellent results, all were pleasantly surprised - NEFU team yielded precedence only to owners. “They entered the 20 best teams at the Moscow competition ", he said.

Practicing specialists evaluated the works of students: cardiac surgeon of the highest category Petr Zakharov, oncosurgeon Tatiana Nikolayeva, a freelance expert in thoracic surgery of the Ministry of Health of RS (Y) Yury Ivanov and other experts. "Doctors discuss our competition in all hospitals. It is important to look for the best, so the heads decided to support us, and the next year they will establish a special prize", Nikolay Gogolev said.
