Student entrepreneurship: NEFU engineering students are developing manufacturing processes of Yakut tea made from local products.

27 residents of NEFU Student Business Incubator (SBI) “Oreh” will compete for an operational office in building 9/2. This year seven new student projects became a new residents of SBI and among them a project called «Yakut tea» by the team from Engineering and Technology Institute.

“We want to start from opening our tea store to sell Yakut tea in packages made in Yakut national style. We will make tea from dog rose, raspberries, blackberry and others, the point is that we will pick berries ourselves. Dog rose is famous for strengthens the immune, digestive systems and effective for the treatment of tuberculosis. Blueberry is helpful for cardiovascular and nervous systems. Substances contained in blueberry are reducing blood sugar levels”, Liliya Gerasimova told. The team of Nyurguyana Alekseeva and Alesandra Gabisheva planning to sell their goods via domestic retailers and drugstores.

Future entrepreneurs calculated that the most expensive parts of their project are: facilities standardization to match the sanitary standards, rental expenses and promotion. In the end of 2015, the students had received a SBI resident status.

“We provide students entrepreneurs with informational and practical assistance: it is important for them to express their best qualities during project, the presentations, that’s why our specialists are ready to assist them with presentation preparations and filling the application forms for different contests. This year we will provide two office facilities with internet in the new NEFU dormitory. Students will rent them at a discounted price”, Eduard Gotovtsev, Deputy Director of Arctic Innovation Center, said.
