NEFU students of economic and technical fields had been developing engineering projects for three weeks under the supervision of University Professor Jin Ho Cho. On February 4, five teams presented their innovative ideas.

"Despite the fact that the ideas presented today have to be improved, the forum has become a good platform for the development of engineering at the university. We organized this forum for the solution of vital problems in the North. In order to come up with practical solutions, the students had to organize brainstorming sessions, to discuss ideas and suggestions, to integrate knowledge of several disciplines", Visiting Professor at NEFU Institute of Natural Sciences Jin Ho Cho reported.

Students presented their projects to University Rector Evgenia Mikhailova. Future economist Nikolay Ammosov realized his long-held idea due to the participation at the forum: self-defense bracelet equipped with a whistle, pepper-spray ball and alarm button to seek special services. "It is no secret that it is unsafe in the evening in big cities. With the bracelet worth RUR 600, you can protect yourself from ruffians, vicious dogs, accidents", the student said. According to him, the whole team had been working on the project. "Someone is strong in the economics, some in the calculations, we used this knowledge to advantage", he said.

The students developed the idea of an ultrasonic mosquito bracelet, autonomous houses for winter roads installation, mini-hydropower plant on the Indigirka River to provide electricity to Honu village of Momsky district.

"Man, no matter where he lives - in the village, town - must strive to eliminate the inconvenience, make their life and the life of the neighbors better. I wish you to keep the research twinkle alive, which you had during the forum. You can create a community where you will create new ideas, develop projects that have already done", the Rector said. She wished them to solve the problem faced by students living in the dormitories: to invent remote communication system with a reception desk.

Professor Jin Ho Cho promised to support the idea of VISION project against reduction in vision. Students offer to install the sensor on the computers that will control the distance from the screen. "Brainstorming took a long time: we started from the idea that our project should be useful to people. During the forum, we have learned to work hard and to share experience to solve mathematical, engineering and economic issues", team members Kristina Vasilieva, Anna Filatova, Anatoly Okhlopkov, Oleg Sitnikov and Aleksey Grigoriev said.
