Students of Hokkaido University got acquainted with the history of Yakutia and Russia

Students of Hokkaido University completed the courses at NEFU. The aim of short-term courses was to get acquainted with the culture, the history of Russia and Yakutia.
Training took place within the frameworks of the joint program of expert training for leadership in the field of ecology, culture and sustainable development in the Far East and the Arctic (RJE3) with the University of Hokkaido (Japan).
"The program included lectures for students of the University of Hokkaido in the following subjects: Russian Language, Russian History, Russian Culture, the History of Yakutia, the Culture of Yakutia, including visits to museums", said Naina Ksenofontova, Director of NEFU Institute of the East of International Relations Office.
Professor Kato Hirofumi, Head of the delegation, Head of the Central Office of RJE3 Program noted the high level of short-term courses, organized by RJE3 internal governing council at NEFU. Students said that the lectures were interesting and informative, and the excursions were entertaining. Several students expressed interest in participating at NEFU Summer Schools.
RJE3 program aims to develop professional groups that play a leading role in the field of environmental sustainability, culture and development of the Far East and the Arctic regions of Russia. "Participants gained experience in conducting small research projects which included field research, data analysis and presentation of results on the last day of the courses", according to NEFU Institute of the East.
On the basis of NEFU, 11 students of undergraduate and graduate programs of different faculties of the University of Hokkaido have trained.
