NEFU students became prize winners of the All-Russian Turkology Competition

The team of NEFU Institute of Languages and Cultures of the Peoples of the Russian North-East became the winner of the X All-Russian Student Competition on Turkic Philology. The competition took place from 10 to 14 May on the basis of Gorno-Altaisk State University.

The representatives of 48 universities from the Republic of Bashkortostan, Altai, Khakassia, Tyva and Yakutia, including participants from Kazakhstan attended the Student Forum. "Learning Language of Turkic Peoples, their history, traditions and cultural heritage is very interesting and exciting. We were able not only to display our knowledge, but also to communicate with students from other Turkic-speaking republics. Undoubtedly, it is a great experience in studying Turkology for us", said Kunney Argunova, a second-year student of NEFU Institute of Languages and Cultures of the Peoples of the Russian North-East, who took the third place in the individual event. She was also awarded a diploma of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science for the deep knowledge of the vocabulary of Turkic languages.

Student competitions were held in two stages. In the first round, participants demonstrated knowledge in the field of modern and historical Turkic languages, in the second - knowledge of the literary heritage of the Turkic Peoples.

Federal University’s students got special nominations of the competition. Aytal Burtsev was awarded for the best knowledge of lexicology, Sargylana Ivanova - for the best knowledge of the literary text. Sayina Borisova was awarded a nomination "For the best analysis of the text in the literature".
