Adaptation week for NEFU international students

NEFU International Relations Office together with NEFU International Club help freshmen from other countries to adapt to new living conditions and study, make some new friends. This November the International Club celebrates the fifth anniversary.

According to NEFU International Relations Office, besides language and climatic difficulties, international students of the federal university have difficulties in social and cultural adaptation. “The staff of International Relations Office and NEFU International Club organized adaptation week for freshmen. Students got acquainted with the university structure and campus. Mentors told what to do in case of emergency situations, conducted safety training”, said Deputy Head of the Office Nikolay Artemiev.

On November 8, festive events dedicated to the fifth club anniversary will be held. Students are going to present the culture of their countries, said John Anderson, the club's president, student of the Institute of Finances and Economics. "Student life in Yakutsk is comfortable and peaceful. Freshmen from other countries live in modern, beautiful and clean dormitories, said the student from Guyana. - We decided to organize the holiday as a festival, where students will make presentations about life and culture of their countries".

NEFU International Club is a student organization of international friendship and cross-cultural communication, established in 2011. The club includes more than 400 NEFU students. Currently, about 150 students from more than 20 countries, mainly from the People's Republic of China, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Mongolia and other countries study at NEFU, including exchange foreign students from Austria, Sweden, Japan, Republic of Korea, and the People's Republic of China.
