The project "Sustainable Campus" is a part of the Russian-Japanese project "COPERA", implemented by Hokkaido University and NEFU, began to function at the Federal University. On November 8, the working group met with participants of the project.

"Our university participates in realization of the project of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research by Balmont Foundation "Budget of carbon permafrost ecosystems, cities and settlements of the eastern Russian Arctic". Our task was to develop a project of sustainable development of the Federal University, which includes range of issues on educational, scientific and social activities of the university, campus development", said Tuyara Gavrilyeva, Research Professor of NEFU Institute of Engineering and Technology.

The research is conducted at the Federal University and Hokkaido University. "The concept of education for sustainable development considers that education leading to knowledge and skills, builds views, attitudes, values of the citizen. So it affects the long-term goals achievement", the scientist said.

According to Tuyara Gavrilyeva, the implementation of this task uses ASSC (Sustainable Campus Assessment System), aimed at assessing the current state of management system and logistics base of universities in terms of the concept of sustainable development. "ASSS is a questionnaire with 170 questions, developed by Bureau for Sustainable Campus Development of Hokkaido University in 2013", she said.

Ryo Yamanaka, student of the Japanese university, who was involved in the translation and adaptation of the questionnaire, noted that the survey of students and teachers continues. "Few respondents took part in the survey, but I hope that we will complete it before the end of the year. I want NEFU students to take the initiative for sustainable campus development, and we will help them", said Ryo Yamanaka.
