NEFU entered the top 600 best universities worldwide according to Global World Communicator

On March 6, the results of the annual Worldwide Professional University Rankings RankPro 2016/2017 (RankPro) were published. The ranking included 600 leading universities from 47 countries.

 According to the Department of Strategic Development, North-Eastern Federal University was one of the leading universities in the world three times. This year, NEFU has taken 516 place in the overall world ranking and 23rd place nationwide.

- This year, NEFU significantly improved its indicators in the most prestigious field - reputation ranking, rising on 24 positions up among Russian universities and taking 22nd place in the country, said Elena Afanasieva, the department's director. - Such positive dynamics shows the growing recognition of the university in the international scientific and educational space, increasing its authority among the expert community. It should be noted that only 22 Russian universities entered the TOP-600 reputational ranking. In addition, NEFU official site ranks 18th in the country and 494 in the world on informativeness. The university is a leader on this indicator for the third year.

"RankPro Ranking evaluates more than one and a half thousand the best universities in the world on such criteria as academic opportunities (Academic Ranking), information content of the Internet resources (BC-Index ranking), reputation of the university among experts (Public Rating)", according to the university department.

Only 44 Russian universities could enter the ranking, including only seven from 10 federal universities. As a rule, American universities took the first places: California Institute of Technology, Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Top three Russian universities - MEPhI (34 position in the world), MIPT (86) and Lomonosov Moscow State University (126).

Among the seven federal universities included in the ranking, the Uralsky takes the first place (339th place in the world ranking), the Kazan, Siberian federal universities. North-Eastern Federal University (NEFU) took the fourth position, followed by FEFU, BFU, SFedU, including NSTU, RGUN, First Moscow State Medical University named after I.M. Sechenov, MSSU, MAI, VGU, MSTU, etc.

In general, the results of NEFU participation in the Worldwide Professional University Rankings RankPro show that the university strengthens its position among the leading scientific and educational centers of the country and the world.

The ranking is formed by the International Council of Scientists (ICS) in cooperation with the Latvian Academy of Sciences within the framework of the international program "Global World Communicator. Education and Science" (GWC). Annually, Ranking RankPro evaluates more than one and a half thousand universities. The criteria of analysis includes the number of foreign students and teachers, the number of scientific and teaching employees with the title of professor and degree of doctor of science, the number of educational programs, research and publication activity, and others.
