Forum “Arctic – territory of dialogue”: NEFU and the University of Arctic continue to cooperate

Joint projects of the University of the Arctic and North-Eastern Federal University to be continued – the parties signed an agreement on further activities of UArctic Russian Information Center, established in 2011 on the base of NEFU. It was reported at the Forum “Arctic – territory of dialogue”, which was held on March 29 in Arkhangelsk.

NEFU Rector Evgenia Mikhailova and Lars Kullerud, the President of the University of the Arctic, signed the cooperation agreement. "The Russian Center of the University of the Arctic is engaged in informing organizations and partner universities about events, scientific and educational projects conducted by the University of the Arctic", said Vladlen Kugunurov, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation at NEFU. - In 2014, due to cooperation with the International Secretariat in Rovaniemi (Finland) and the Research Office at the Northern (Arctic) Federal University, an updated portal of the University of the Arctic was launched in Russian - Uarctic.org, which presents the main sections of the English version".

The news portal includes the announcements about events held by partner universities and scientific organizations of the University of the Arctic, including the activities and successes of partner universities, the experience of participating in internships in the academic mobility North2North. Within the frameworks of the Center's activities, the journal of the University of the Arctic "Shared Voices", dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Arctic Council, was translated into Russian. The new agreement is effective for 5 years, until 2022.

Let us remember that the forum "Arctic - territory of dialogue" will gather more than one and half thousand scientists, politicians and experts, including 800 from abroad. The conference will be attended by the heads of three states - Russia, Norway and Finland, including delegation from China participating for the first time, observing country of the Arctic Council.
