Student of NEFU Mining Institute took the third place at the World Cup in Kettlebell Lifting

A fourth-year student of the Mining Institute of M.K. Ammosov North-Eastern Federal University Mikhail Savvinov won the bronze medal of the World Cup in kettlebell lifting. The third stage of the competition ended on May 21 in St. Petersburg.

 The student received a ticket to the world championship according to the results of the Russian semi-finals in Omsk, where he took the second place. According to Mikhail Savvinov, at the World Cup he took part in the category of 73 kilograms among men, and in the European Championship among young people up to twenty two years in the category up to 68 kilograms. A week before the World Cup, the athlete won the gold medal of the European Championships in Daugavpils in Latvia.

"The strongest athletes took part in the competition in St. Petersburg. It was not easy to take the third place, the participant from Kazakhstan lost to me by 1.5 points, said the sportsman. - The gap between all the participants was very small. I am glad that I have overcome eminent, strongest kettlebell-lifters and I took the third place, this is a good success for me".

Mikhail Savvinov was involved in kettlebell lifting in school, during the last four years he has been training under the direction of Vasily Dyachkovsky, honored coach of the RS (Y). Last year, NEFU student became the winner of the world junior championship in kettlebell lifting for the first time in the history of the republic. Now he is preparing for the Manchaary Games, which will be held in Verkhnevilyuisky ulus. "After the Games I plan to fulfill the standard of the master of sports of the international class", said Mikhail Savvinov. - And after receiving a bachelor's degree in technospheric security, I want to enter the Master's program of NEFU Institute of Physical Culture and Sports".
