Institute of Physics and Technologies is one of the oldest institutes of the university. The first higher educational institution was Teacher Training Institute in 1934 and the Faculty of Physics and Technologies was part of it. 

The Institute of Physics and Technologies was established by Decree of the President of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) M.E. Nikolaev of May 4, 2000 in order to realize a concept of development of the higher professional education for providing fundamental, physical, engineering and technological education.

Nowadays the Institute of Physics and Technologies is one of the largest units of the university with thousand students. There are ten departments at the institute, which include eight computer classes, about sixty educational and research laboratories, experimental trail.

There are 8 specialties and 8 specializations in Bachelor at the institute.
