NEFU to open international camp for young draught and chess players in China

North-Eastern Federal University opens the international camp for children in Hubei Province (China), where young players will be engaged in draughts and chess. This was announced on the Day of NEFU Mind Sports on March 19.

The agreement on joint work was signed between the federal university, Yakutsk school number 2 and the Center for Mind Sports in Hubei. "We are united not only by sports - we study science together, we arrange exchange of students and school students visiting the centers. To strengthen work and exchange positive experience, we need to develop joint projects", said Yury Nikiforov, Director of the Center for NEFU Mind Sports.

Day of Mind Sports gathered school students, students of secondary schools and universities at NEFU, who competed for the title of the best in checkers and chess. The total winners of the competition were the team of NEFU Institute of Physical Culture and Sports. "Participants showed a high level of skill. The competition was on equal terms", said Yury Nikiforov. Within the frameworks of the event, an electronic game of chess and draughts with the use of interactive boards was held for the first time.

Among the student teams, the team of NEFU Institute of Mathematics and Informatics took the second place, the third place was taken by the Institute of Engineering and Technology. The team of Melzhekhsinsk school of Megino-Kangalassky region won, the team of the Yakutsk National Gymnasium took the second place, Yakutsk school number 2 took the third place among school students.

In total, seven student teams of higher and secondary educational institutions took part in the competition, including four teams of school students. Each team consisted of two players in Russian and international draughts and two in chess. The organizer of the competition was NEFU Center for Mind Sports.
