NEFU and Korea-Sakha Association signed a memorandum on mutual cooperation

North-Eastern Federal University and the Korea-Sakha Association will continue cooperation - the parties strengthen their partnership with a memorandum on mutual cooperation on May 5, at a meeting with NEFU Rector Evgenia Mikhailova.

"Our university has been cooperating with Korean universities for a long time, in particular, thanks to the friend of the university, Professor Kang Duck Soo. We can learn a lot  from the professor who is rich in ideas. We always support each other, share experiences, find common themes for research", said NEFU rector Evgenia Mikhailova. - There are the International Scientific School and master's program in linguistics under the guidance of Professor Sang-Cheol Ahn".

Professor Kang Duck Soo noted that during these years significant results were achieved. "First of all, contacts between our students. They communicate with each other, make friends. And friendship already leads to cooperation. For example, two master students from NEFU are currently working at Hankuk University", the professor said.

The fifth Youth Sakha-Korean forum dedicated to the implementation of the investment potential of Yakutia and Korea will be held in the summer of 2017. In addition to educational and project activities, there are also cultural events. Also in the summer of 2017, it is planned to hold a number of summer educational schools in partnership with Korean colleagues according to NEFU Vice Rector for International Cooperation Vladlen Kugunurov. The idea of ​​a possible joint scientific expedition along the Lena River was also discussed.

Professor Kang Duck Soo is the head of the Russian Language Department at Hankuk University. He is one of the originators of the opening of the Sakha-Korean school, the establishment of the Korea-Sakha Association and the opening of the Department of the Korean language at NEFU Institute of Foreign Philology and Regional Studies. He translated the Yakut heroic epic "Olonkho" into the Korean language.
