Scientists of North-Eastern Federal University together with colleagues from the South Korean Institute of Sooam Biotech Research Foundation recreated a clone of a 12-year-old male Yakut hunting dog.

The Russian state media wrote about the success of the university scientists. The donation of two cloned puppies of the Yakut delegation took place in Seoul. Scientific research is carried out within the frameworks of the project on the study of genetics of native Yakut Laika for the reproduction of the breed,  according to Izvestia.

"Puppies are several months old", explained Lena Grigorieva, a leading researcher at the international center for collective use "Molecular paleontology" of the Research Institute of Applied Ecology of the North.

"Cloned dogs were stronger than usual, but they needed time to retrain and acclimatize. The Korean Sooam Biotech Foundation is the only scientific institution in the world where they engage in the cloning of dogs and other animals. Many cloned dogs successfully serve in Korea, USA, China and other countries in the search for explosives and drugs, airports and places of mass gathering", reported My Planet.

The cloned puppies were given the Yakut names - Belekh and Kerechene. Employees of the university told that the dogs were vaccinated, active, their behavior corresponds to the norms of development, and the specialists note that they have a high ability to learn and communicate. Solemn presentation of cloned puppies will be held on June 23, the day of NEFU graduates congress, according to the federal channel PTR.
