Delegation of Japanese Company Bridgestone visited North-Eastern Federal University. The parties discussed possibility of further cooperation at the meeting.

One of the key subjects was the idea of creating of the world’s first year-round underground testing area. Vice-president Tatsuro Hamada noted that if such area will be built, NEFU will gain a significant advantage over other world universities. “Certainly, not only Bridgestone, but other tire manufacturers and vehicles would cooperate with the university”, Tatsuro Hamada pointed.

The second important point was the internship of young researchers at the center of the tire manufacturers. “Students from around the world undertake internship and carry out research work in our research center. This experience will be useful for the development of scientific technology in Russia”, Vice-president of Bridgestone said.

Also company representatives have offered to send a delegation of NEFU experts to joint research center of Toyota-Bridgestone in Japan. Chiaki Oyama, company manager said that their partner, world-renowned Automotive Corporation Toyota, is interested in cooperation with the North-Eastern Federal University.

Afanasiy Savvin, NEFU Prorector for Innovative Development assured that by the autumn, there will be the necessary technical conditions before the new test season.

NEFU and Bridgestone have been cooperating for three years. A month ago, NEFU delegation extended the contract on cooperation with Bridgestone within the frameworks of the VI Russian-Japanese Investment Forum.
