Natalia Timofeyeva, junior research fellow of NEFU Institute of Medicine, offers a new method for the treatment of chronic gastritis and associated chronic cholecystitis using mineral water. Her project was one of the grant winners of the RS(Y) head competition for young scientists, specialists and students. The awards were presented on February 10.

Laboratory "Medical Technologies in Gastroenterology" of NEFU Medical Institute is engaged in research of mineral water from the Lake Abalakh in Megino-Kangalassky region. "I have been developing the treatment methods of chronic gastritis and cholecystitis for three years. Pathology of the gallbladder with gastritis are common because of the diet disorder, which almost every resident of Yakutia has", laboratory junior research fellow Natalia Timofeyeva said.

The treatment method was tested among the patients of Abalakh Republican Center of Rehabilitation Medicine and Rehabilitation during specialized gastroenterological arrivals. "Patients were drinking mineral water under medical supervision, according to a special regime. Each patient had individual regime, time and the water temperature. It can not be taken alone", the doctor said. The treatment had been tested for two years, except for patients with cholelithiasis.

Young scientist plans to continue the research project and learn the methods of biochemical studies of bile at the Tomsk Research Institute of Health Resort.

Tomsk RI of Health Resort studied useful properties of water from the Lake Abalakh in 1998. The importance of mineral water was noted in the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases of the digestive system.

120 researchers and members of research teams became participants in the grant competition of the head of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) for young scientists, professionals and students in 2016. NEFU young scientists became winners in the field of "Physics and Mathematics", "Chemistry", "Earth Sciences" and "Medical Sciences".
