On April 2, North-Eastern Federal University turned six years old since establishment on the basis of M.K. Ammosov Yakutsk State University, the university with 75 years history.

"In 2010, we had to reconsider the status of the university. Since our tasks extend to the entire federation. By participating in the federal and international events, students, university professors learned their skills in comparison with Russian and foreign colleagues. We have identified the field we have a high level of training, and where is the lack, which allowed neutralize weaknesses", NEFU senior lecturer in Philosophy Leonid Sofroneyev said.

"Six years since NEFU establishment and I have been working here for six years. I graduated from the university, got a job at my own, but new university, a year later I have created a laboratory for the study of the ecological state of the Arctic. Recently, I have defended a dissertation, said Ruslan Gorodnichev, Head of "BIOM" Laboratory of the Department of Ecology, NEFU Institute of Natural Sciences. Many changes have taken place for the better in six years: the level of training of students and staff, facilities and resources. Progress and improvement of the university does not stop and will continue in the future".

"It should be noted that it is the development of the Yakut State University transformed Yakutsk into the capital of the most important region of Russia. Our university is a major research center, which develops science, culture, industrial production", said Rimma Tazlova, University Professor Mentor, Honored Doctor of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), NEFU honorary veteran.

Nowadays, NEFU is a multidisciplinary university, which has opportunities for training, education and research work. At the end of 2015, 16,181 students were enrolled at the university. The teaching staff consists of 1,592 people, including 191 doctors of science and 873 candidates.
