NEFU geographers may apply for Ulla Johansen Scholarship

According to NEFU International Relations Office, the program of German Professor Ulla Johansen for young scholars of North-Eastern Federal University expands specializations – next year geographers can apply for a scholarship.
“DAAD-Stiftung expanded the list of specializations, representatives of which can participate in the contest, such specialties as “Ethnology”, "History", "Sociology", "Linguistics", "Musicology" and "Geography" were chosen for 2017-2018 academic year. The target group of the program are graduate students and young scholars of the federal university", said Olga Nuzhdina, curator of DAAD Academic Exchange Service.
Dr. Ulla Johansen created the own scholarship “Ulla Johansen – Stipendium” through DAAD program, addressed to young researchers from Yakutia. In 2014, Associate Professor of the Faculty of History Galina Belolyubskaya completed an internship. "The main purpose of my internship was the theoretical and methodological development of the subject "Borders of "private" and "public" in traditional societies". While working at Max Planck Institute, I got acquainted with a number of concepts and approaches typical of western scientific schools", said the associate professor of the university.
The scholarship gives an opportunity to graduate students and young scientists from Yakutia, conducting research in the field of social, historical sciences, history of primitive society and prehistory, ethnology, linguistics and musicology, geography to carry out own research project and get the experience of intercultural communication in Germany. According to the International Relations Office, applicants should speak German or English well.
Young scientist has to work in Germany for eight months, study language for two months, and during six months to carry out research.
