Master’s students and bachelors of the Department of Journalism of NEFU Faculty of Philology became participants of the international research project on studying the media scene of Russia and EU countries. The research project is implemented together with German scientists.

"The first phase of the project, which is being implemented from October to December, includes intensive training, conducted online by German professors Dennis Lichtenstein and Katharina Esau”, said Lena Pavlova, the candidate of philological sciences, associate professor of journalism.

"Due to the research project, master’s students and bachelors study new methods of media research. The project is international, so different objects in different languages are studied by the same methodology: content analysis, frame analysis, coding of mass media messages and their interpretation in the quantitative and qualitative aspects", the associate professor said.

The project on studying the media scene of Russia and the European countries is for two years. Associate Professor Lena Pavlova, supervisor of the project from NEFU, conducts joint research with the University of Zeppellin (Zeppelin Universität Friedrichshafen) and the University of Düsseldorf (Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf). "Participation in the international project integrates young researchers in the current media research agenda", said Nikita Argylov, head of NEFU Department of Information Policy, project coordinator.

According to the results of research, it is planned to hold research workshops and publications in Russian and foreign journals.
